      Hi cdrcodor.

      That’s more than one question, I think…

1/ Do I believe there could be extra-terrestrial life?
Yes, in the for-all-intents-and-purposes infinite universe, with so very many stars and so many planets orbiting them, I think the maths shows that it’s highly likely there are other planets with conditions that are favourable to life.

2/ Do I think there are aliens at least as intelligent as we are or moreso?
If we evolved on this planet in 4 billion years, other 4 billion year-old planets could have similar life forms too. Why not!

3/ Do I think aliens visit the Earth?
Someone, somewhere might be watching us. It’s quite an exciting thought. And we are a ‘noisy’ planet, beaming things out all the time! I like the Futurama idea of aliens many lightyears away getting hooked on some rubbish sitcom (though I think that’s veeery unlikely).

4/ Do I think aliens have abducted people?
I really doubt it. Most of the time these abductions seem to occur, curiously, in places where people are out at night and drunk. Odd, that.

Hope one or all of those comes close to what you meant!

      Hi cdrcodor,

I think it would be really cool if we found live somewhere other than earth, and I think it’s possible that life elsewhere might exist. But it’s far less likely that another intellgent species like humans has evolved elsewhere, and is close enough to us to make contact.

As for these theories that aliens have already visited Earth – I’d eat my hat, socks and underpants if these turned out to be true!

I’d try not to use the word believe because it makes them sound like something you have to have faith in. I think it’s certainly possible that we aren’t alone in this enormous, expanding Universe. It seems kind of arrogant to say we are the only ones. i don’t believe there are aliens among us or that we’ve made contact or that people get sucked into spaceships from remote country lanes in order to be intimately probed. These things are science ‘fiction’.

No, so I hope that none of them are listening
