      Hi calamm8,

Buy an iPad! No, wrong answer – it’s supposed to be used for science communication isn’t it!

What I would really like to do is buy all the classes in the Silicon Zone a copy of a great book called “No Small Matter. Science at the Nanoscale” (you can see some excerpts from it on my blog here: http://2020science.org/2010/01/18/no-small-matter-taster/

Why this book? It’s about a really cool area that I have been working in for some years now – nano-science. It’s written by two really smart people at Harvard University. It has some great photos in it, and some wonderful writing. But most of all, it gives a brilliant insight into what it is that gets a great scientist – Professor George Whitesides – excited about science.

I think it’s a brilliant book, and one that anyone can find something in that they will enjoy.

Well… In my profile i said I’d hang an oil-painting of myself in the office. Then I said I’d let the science communication team here decide how they could use £500 to help communicate our research to schools/pupils.

After all these questions I think I’ll just say that I’ll do the 2nd option but actually I’ll spend the money on filling 4 litre jars with different colour M&Ms and spend the remainder on coffee…

Hi calamm8, kirstencymi and dimitri33……I would donate it to a local community science project that promotes science within schools:).

      Hi guys,

As I said in my profile, and I’m really not lying, honest – I didn’t realise there was prize money when I signed up!
So, I haven’t thought of anything really good that I could do with it yet, I don’t think. Perhaps I could organise a visit for some local school kids to come and look around the lab, if somewhere was interested in doing that.

I’m currently looking into science communication careers so if I could spend it on something that could help me in reaching more people (like equipment to make my blog more professional, or going to some conferences etc.) then maybe I could do that.

      I’d love some suggestions!
