      Hi aimeesmith,

This is actually a serious question, and one that science fiction writers have grappled with quite a lot. Telling everyone could destabilize society: If not everyone could afford it, there could be riots and even wars, and if people started to live much longer, the Earth’s resources might not support them. Keeping the knowledge a secret would prevent this, but would split society into those that had the treatment and those that didn’t – not only would this be very unfair, but it might also lead to wars.

If I was ever in this position, I would tell the world. But I would also work hard to find a way in which the new technology could be used without destroying society.
