I liked most of science actually!
I did Biology and Chemistry for A level (and Latin), plus Physics AS.
I preferred the astronomy side of physics to the maths (mechanics etc.) so I think that’s why I didn’t do it for A level as well.

For GCSE our school didn’t do the three separate subjects; we had a double science GCSE that incorporated all 3 areas.

I enjoyed chemistry a lot (though I did once make a hole in the desk by not putting my apparatus up properly…) and we had some really fun teachers for Biology too. I think teachers can really make a difference to how you feel about subjects at school!
But it’s good to think about what subject matter you enjoy, as well as how fun the lessons are or how cool your teacher is(‘nt) 😉

I most liked biology in school. I don’t have a real love for maths so physics has never really appealed to me. Also, my teachers were quite odd-ball so i couldn’t really relate to them.

Chemistry was OK and I certainly use what I learnt in the laboratory now so i’m very glad I pursued it to sixth year studies level.

Biology was most interesting to me because It studies life and living organisms. You can reach out and touch it. I suppose that’s a potentially disgusting statement but I guess I mean that airy-fairy theorising and equations just bore me….

If you want to pursue medicine you should def. do biology and chemistry if not physics (physics is really important to radiology/imaging where some of the most exciting clinical-scientific advances are taking place. You should probably try and be a radiologist you’ll have an interesting job, make loads of money and in the future you’ll probs work from home…! (Blast! Should’ve taught myself to like physics).

      Hi dado93,

physics, I’m afraid! Biology was too messy. Chemistry had too much to remember. Physics was just right – gaining insight into how things work from just a few basic principles. OK so it was a little more complex than that, but there was (and is) an elegance to physics that appealed to me.

Biology as I have always been interested in natural history and the world around me. I find it very inspirational and uplifting!
