      Hi babybel

Pig headedness? Couldn’t do anything else? Quite possibly watching Dr. Who and reading science fiction novels!

I think it was a mixture of things, starting with being exposed to science at an early age, and discovering that I really liked learning about things, and being able to use that knowledge to predict stuff. Inspiring teachers were also a factor, as was my dad – and mucking about with chemistry sets and electronics kits didn’t do any harm either!

I tried to capture some of this last year in a blog post, which gives you a bit of better idea what inspired me to get into science: http://2020science.org/2009/09/03/hooked-on-science/

The natural world as I was fascinated by the insects in my garden which turned from gray dull grubs into the majestic ladybird – an excellent thing to watch. I also didn’t realise that on hatching out of the pupae the adult ladybird starts off with a soft yellow shell which then hardens into the more familar red coating.

Hi Babybel. My Dad was an Industrial Paint Chemist before he retired and he was always talking to me about science in an interesting way and the TV always seem to have some scientific programme on such as Horizon and Tommorrows World. Being a curious person I was also interested why things worked the way they did eg how did a bee fly and how did flowers grow. My Biology Teacher also made Science fun at school and I think that was the final inspiration to going into a Science career:).

      Hey babybel.

I think it was just the thing that made most sense for me to do. Interesting and useful 🙂
