• Question: have you won any awards for the work you have done?

      Hi elmo97,

      I’ve won some small awards, but nothing important. Maybe I’ll change my mind if I get offered a really big prize for my work, but I actually don’t think that awards are that important – I get a much bigger kick out of the work I do and the impact it has, than whether someone wants to give me a certificate.

      Now, if there were oodles of money involved, that would be different…

      Nope. I’m unappreciated in my own time. The work is just 2 years old so It’s not ready for the Nobel Prize yet. Thanks for your concern though Elmo. If you meet the Nobel committee you could give them a heads up about Dr Leitch. Cheers.

      Not really…

      We just had a paper published in Nature, which is a really big deal (there’s a picture of the title on my profile!) but it’s not *my* project; I helped out with it, and my PhD project has kind of grown out from that work.

      I keep coming 2nd in things, it’s starting to annoy me, actually!!

      I have won opportunties through the work I have done. I have had the chance to shadow ministers which was interesting to get their perspective of what they thought was important for the environment. The most exciting thing I have done is win the opportunity to make a 5 minute documentary which was hard working but rewarding
