      Hi crowntown100,

All the time! In fact, I couldn’t do my job without working with others – my brain’s too small to cram everything I would need in it if I didn’t have experts in other fields to help me out!

Plus, working with people who are good at the things you aren’t so good at is half the fun of science!

We have a team of 6 people but we also work with other teams sometimes. Here most people treat each others as equals (with different skills) but in some jobs (and this is still true of doctors in hospitals) there’s a pecking order and you have to be careful that you don’t act above your station.

      Certainly!

The lab is often a sociable environment; this varies from place to place though; I’ve worked in far more isolated labs than the one I’m in now (and didn’t like it very much at all).

It’s preferable to have people you are comfortable talking to and asking advice from in the lab – the best way to learn is with other people’s help and experience.

I get along really well with my colleagues and I couldn’t keep going without them!
