      Hi sciencysciencepeople,

Fraid not – not nearly enough energy there to create a black hole that would swallow the world up!

I’m going to name-drop again; I talked with Brian Cox and he said *Absolutely not* and some other choice words that I won’t repeat – because people are always going on about black holes and it annoys him because it’s ridiculous!

Bit of explanation (I really recommend these talks!)

Hi sciencysciencepeople….like the name….I’m an environmental scientist and not a physicist but seeing as all the other scientists are commenting on climate change…why not???? I think it is one of the scaremongering theories about naughty scientists that are out of control and want to advance science to the detriment of others. Most research scientists have a moral code of conduct that they work to that is written and monitored by a panel of experts (scientists and non-scientists). Therefore, their work is closely looked at.

My suggestion is to read around the subject and you’ll find that there are other more potential causes of the rapid decline of this planet.:)

HI sciencyscience people. I could say no to you but it really wouldn’t mean anything. You should always assess the qualifications of the person making a statement to you. If you check out my profile and previous answers you’ll realise I’m not someone you could trust on a difficult physics question like this. Who do you think will know most about this from looking at our profiles and previous answers?

However my understanding from having talked to a physicist about it is that it is unlikely. But then a physicist would say that if he was planning to suck us all into a black hole wouldn’t he?
