• Question: can you modify food so that they you can get more calouries from food so that food will last longer?

      Not my area of research but I guess you could.

      A related answer from work a colleague of mine has been involved in , has shown that livestock grazed on more biodiverse (i.e there were a lot of different species of grasses and forbs present) grasslands had a much higher content of Vitamin E than meat from conventional (i.e. a grassland with typically just rye grass and clover) farms. The significance of this, is that meat with a higher vitamin E content can stay on the shelf longer!
