    Hi jim1,

Ahhh, beans on toast – the perfect comfort food! It’s simple, it’s cheap, and it is a nutritiously complete meal! (Actually the last point might be a myth – I need to check that). This obsession with beans on toast probably comes from growing up in the UK and living in the US – but it’s what we eat as a family when we’re tired and want something comforting and easy!

I should also add that, as a student, I reckoned that you could live on beans on toast very comfortably with very little money… perfect student fare :-)

I have to agree with Andrew’s comment about being a student.
You can get really nice baked beans for less than 30p a can, and you can find bread quite cheap sometimes too… so it’s perfect!
I like to add lots of pepper to my beans when they’re nearly done – perfect.

Shrimpyking, I also love blowing things up and I like tests about blowing things up but not blowing things up sucks, like not blowing up beans in a microwave once a week isn’t good enough for me XD!!!

Simple and quick! Especially nice with grated cheese and/or HP sauce. Beans can be a bit too salty though and I have to drink a lot of water afterwards!

Yay – beans on toast rules! Must admit I do like a bit of grated cheese on it as well (with you there Emma) – and a dash of Worcester Sauce!

Did you read that the germans felt that the beanas Heinz were selling them weren’t as good? The scientific testing involved counting the number of beans, shaking the tin to judge ‘slosh-factor’ and measuring sugar, salt and water levels.

“slosh factor” very scientific. I wonder how they proved it was a fair test? ha,ha

Inspired by this question, I actually had beans on toast for my tea last night. Unfortunately this means I should probably have something different tonight.:-)
